Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Medical Education Program Awarded OSMA Accreditation

Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Continuing Medical Education program was surveyed by the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) Focused Task Force and was awarded Accreditation with Commendation for six years. This is the highest amount of accreditation the OSMA awards.

The primary purpose of OSMA accreditation is to ensure quality and integrity in continuing medical education (CME) by establishing criteria for the accreditation of CME providers in Ohio, including determining whether accredited providers meet and maintain accreditation criteria, promoting organizational self-assessment and improvement, and recognizing excellence.

“Receiving a six-year Accreditation with Commendation is an amazing testament to the hard work and commitment of all stakeholders involved in planning and implementing CME offerings at Firelands,” said Luis Perez, D.O., director of continuing medical education at Firelands. “Many different departments at Firelands have to work together to make quality CME programs possible, and it’s great to see the results of our excellent teamwork and collegiality recognized by the OSMA surveyors.”
