Common Sleep Problems
Insomnia
Insomnia is defined as fragmented or disrupted sleep and is experienced by an estimated 70 million Americans.

Sleep Apnea
Symptoms of sleep apnea may include heavy snoring, excessive and or inappropriate daytime sleepiness, high blood pressure, rapid weight gain, morning headaches, personality change, impotence or signs of heart failure.

Narcolepsy
This condition, characterized by sudden sleep attacks during the day, affects almost 500,000 Americans. Symptoms may include frequent vivid nightmares or hallucinations upon falling asleep, sudden loss of muscle tone during emotionally charged activities, or momentary paralysis upon waking and sudden involuntary sleep attacks.

Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep
Often mistaken for insomnia, symptoms include multiple waking episodes during the night, crawling or restless sensation in the legs and excessive daytime sleepiness. This condition can be seen in conjunction with other sleep disorders. Tests available at the Center include, but are not limited to:
  • Nocturnal Polysomnography
  • Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT / MWT)
  • NASAL CPAP Trial and Re-evaluation
  • Thorough Medical Evaluations and Testing
