Meet Our Executive Team

Martin E. Tursky, President & CEO
Mr. Tursky joined Firelands Regional Health System as President & CEO in June 2012, bringing over 14 years of healthcare leadership experience to the position. As President & CEO Mr. Tursky is responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic visioning of Firelands Regional Medical Center. He serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors and oversees physician credentialing and processes and functions of the Medical Staff Office. He is responsible for ensuring that key processes and activities are measured, assessed, and improved systematically throughout the organization. Mr. Tursky comes to Firelands from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where he served as President & CEO of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. His leadership experience encompasses numerous cost saving and growth initiatives, statewide and national recognition in quality and image, recognition as one of the first Certified Chest Pain Centers in the nation, a $90 million hospital addition and implementation of an Electronic Medical Record project. Mr. Tursky also held a number of progressively responsible positions at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. From 1991 through 1996, Mr. Tursky served in the United States Army, U.S. and International locations, where he managed sizeable teams, budgets and assets. He holds a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management/Mechanical, from the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mr. Tursky has resided in Ohio for over 14 years.

Daniel J. Moncher, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Moncher joined the Firelands Regional Health System in 1997. Prior to joining Firelands, Mr. Moncher served as Regional Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, Ohio and Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio. He has 25 years of healthcare experience. His responsibilities include all aspects of financial, capital, investment, and debt management, interest rate risk management, financial strategic planning and analyses, operating and capital budgeting, revenue cycle, business analysis, medical records, patient billing/cashiers, insurance claims management, managed care contracting, graduate medical education, physician hospital organization (PHO), The Foundation for Firelands, and outpatient behavioral health. In addition, he is responsible for banking, investment, auditor, insurance, and actuarial relationships. He is very active locally serving on many community and not-for-profit Boards and Finance Committees. Mr. Moncher is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business-Accountancy from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and his Master of Business Administration Degree from Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio.

Beverly J. Schrickel, Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Officer
Mrs. Schrickel joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 1979 as a RN, Charge Nurse of the Medical/Surgical Unit and Relief Supervisor. At Firelands she has served as Shift Supervisor, Critical Care Coordinator, Clinical Coordinator, and Director of Inpatient Services. She is responsible for the direction and operation of nursing functions and related patient care activities for the following areas: Psych, Medical/Surgical Units, Inpatient (oncology), Cancer Services, Progressive Care, Critical Care, Nursing Supervisors, OB/Peds, Diabetic Education, Wound Center, Dialysis, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery Areas, Infusion Center, and Sterile Processing. She received a RN Diploma in Nursing in 1976 from Toledo Mercy School of Nursing; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996 from Bowling Green State University, Firelands Campus; and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration in 2010 from New England College. Mrs. Schrickel is certified by the ANCC as a Nurse Executive and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Mike Canfield, Vice President, Operations and Chief Information Officer
Mr. Canfield joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2011. He brings over 25 years of IT experience to the position, most recently serving as the Director, IT Business Management Office and Program Management at Kaiser Permanente Ohio. His areas of responsibility at Firelands Regional Medical Center include leading all aspects of the Information Technology, Clinical Implementation, Telecommunications, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Medical Imaging teams. Mr. Canfield is a Certified Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS), a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Muskingum College and earned a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University. Mr. Canfield has led Electronic Medical Record implementations in several organizations and has worked in healthcare computing for the last 17 years.

James A. Sennish, Vice President, Human Resources
Mr. Sennish joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in February 2006 and has over 30 years of human resource management experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Mr. Sennish has undergraduate and graduate degrees in administration from Bowling Green State University. His responsibilities at Firelands include the administration of human resources for the 2,000 employee Medical Center. He leads all human resource activities including recruitment, retention, education, employee health & wellness programs, benefits & compensation, employee relations, and HRIS, as well as human resource regulatory and governmental compliance. Mr. Sennish has successfully led the Firelands team to receive several Best Employer/Best Place to Work recognitions on the local, state, and national levels. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Ohio Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administrators, and the Healthcare Executives of Northeast Ohio. Mr. Sennish is a frequent speaker on human resource and management topics and represents Firelands in several community organizations. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Bowling Green State University Firelands College since 2001, teaching human resource and management classes.

Robert M. Moore, Vice President, Legal & General Counsel
Mr. Moore joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2005. Previously, he was a partner with the law firm of Muehlhauser & Moore in Sandusky where he provided 16 years of legal service to the Firelands Regional Medical Health System. His practice included business and commercial litigation; business planning, including non-profit corporations; real estate transactions; contract negotiations and drafting; estate planning and employment defense litigation. Mr. Moore is licensed to practice in all Ohio courts and in the U.S. Federal Court. From 1984 to 1990, Mr. Moore served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Erie County. Mr. Moore graduated cum laude from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo in 1984.

Connie R. Lamb, Vice President, Marketing & Public Relations
Mrs. Lamb joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in March 2007, bringing over 27 years of marketing experience to the position. Mrs. Lamb previously served as Marketing Director of the Mercy Health System in Lorain, and prior to that was with the Firelands and Providence Health Systems in Sandusky, holding numerous positions since 1992. Her healthcare marketing experience encompasses the areas of strategic planning, strategic marketing and advertising campaigns, public relations campaigns, corporate communications, business development, consumer relationship marketing, marketing research, e-marketing and community relations. Her areas of responsibilities at Firelands Regional Medical Center include the administration of all of the system's marketing, advertising and public relations functions, as well as overseeing the Development Department (including the Gift Shops), Community Outreach (including Physician Relations) and the Volunteer Program. Under her leadership, her team has achieved 19 national awards for various marketing initiatives. Mrs. Lamb is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and serves on the Board of the local Chamber of Commerce. She earned her Masters and undergraduate degrees in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.

Marsha O. Mruk, Vice President, Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services
Mrs. Mruk joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 1985. Previously, she worked in two other large Community Mental Health Centers in Pennsylvania, Family Planning and services for the elderly upon her move to Ohio. At Firelands, Mrs. Mruk is responsible for the administration of the full range of mental health and alcohol and drug services and a 34-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. Under her leadership, the Behavioral Health program has grown to provide services in ten locations across seven counties including Erie, Ottawa, Huron, Seneca, Sandusky, Wyandot and Lorain counties. Duties also include program and business development, grant writing, fiscal management, and interfacing with hospital management, community, and government agencies. Mrs. Mruk has 30 plus years of experience in Behavioral Health. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from California University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree of Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Patricia S. Martin, Vice President, Quality and Patient Satisfaction
Mrs. Martin joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 1978 as a Charge Nurse for the Pediatrics Unit. She has since served in various capacities at Firelands Regional Medical Center including Nursing Projects Coordinator, Coordinator of Special Projects, Coordinator of the Hayes Avenue Facility Services and Programs, and Director of Physician Relations. She currently serves in the capacity of Vice President of Quality and Patient Satisfaction where she is accountable for the planning, implementation, and management of organization wide activities to assess and improve quality and patient satisfaction. Specific areas of responsibility include: constant survey readiness, infection surveillance and control, infectious diseases, patient safety, professional peer review, concurrent quality processes, patient satisfaction and advocacy, risk management, institutional review board, inpatient wound care, the interfaces and benchmarking with private and public external databases for quality processes and outcomes, trauma and stroke certification, and planned change. Mrs. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Organization Development, each from Bowling Green State University and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dru Meredith, Assistant Vice President, Operations
Mr. Meredith joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2003 as the Public Relations Coordinator. He was promoted to Director of Physician Recruitment in 2005, Area Director of Physician Recruitment and South Campus Operations in 2009, and Assistant Vice President of Operations in 2011. As Assistant Vice President of Operations, Mr. Meredith oversees Physician Recruitment, South Campus Operations, Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation, Property Management, Nutritional Services, and Post Acute Care Relationships/Business Development. Mr. Meredith holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and Allied Professions and a Master of Organizational Development, each from Bowling Green State University and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Jane Arnold, Assistant Vice President of Revenue Cycle
Mrs. Arnold joined the Firelands Regional Health System in 2004 as the Director of Revenue Cycle bringing over 30 years of experience to the position. Prior to joining Firelands, Arnold served as Director of Revenue Cycle of Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, Ohio and Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio. Her responsibilities include management of the revenue cycle, insurance verification, medical records & transcription, patient accounting, credit & collection, denial management, chargemaster and clinical audit & compliance. Mrs. Arnold is a graduate of Hopewell Loudon High School and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
