Erica Sharkey Recognized as June Beacon of Light
Sandusky, Ohio -- Firelands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Erica Sharkey, RN, has been selected as the June Beacon of Light. Erica is a Care Coordinator with Firelands Regional Medical Center Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Program.
The Firelands Beacon of Light is a monthly award given to team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Regional Medical Center in the areas of service, integrity, respect, unity and stewardship along with their commitment as a member of our community.
According to the nomination for Erica, she exhibits these values. “Erica always has a smile on her face and spreads her “cheer” wherever she is. She always uses positive reinforcement wherever needed and never turns down an opportunity to help others. Erica’s attitude is evident in every interaction she has with patients as well as her co-workers. She is consistently an uplifting person, congratulating patients on the small victories.”
“She is always working to improve processes whenever asked and also initiates this independently as well. Recent examples of this include researching resources to assist and educate our elderly patients, working toward re-organizing the department physically/aesthetically to make it more functional (i.e. larger doorways) and making sure that changes are communicated well to staff members.”
In addition, when not spending time with her nephew at soccer and bowling, Erica participates in community weekend runs to benefit various causes and multiple charities.
