Holly Price Selected as November Beacon of Light at Firelands Regional Medical Center
(November 28, 2017 – Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Holly Price, MSN, RN, CNE, ANEF, director of the Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing, has been selected as the November Beacon of Light Award winner. Holly has been employed with Firelands for 33 years.
The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Regional Medical Center in the form of exceptional Attitude, Commitment and Enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and coworkers.
Holly’s nomination confirmed this commitment. “Holly keeps everything running smoothly at the school but it takes a lot of dedication and effort. You can tell Holly loves the school and the students as she always goes the extra mile to make sure their needs are met and she creates a positive environment for them. She has a “can-do” attitude and when problems arise, Holly will rally to find a solution. Faculty and staff feel comfortable and confident going to Holly with any issues, good or bad, and feel that she will listen and be proactive and supportive.”
“Holly is very committed to the success of the school,” her nomination continued. “We are very pleased to report that our 2017 graduating class (40 graduates) had a 100 percent passage rate on the NCLEX, which is a tremendous achievement. Holly is always in constant communication with faculty to make sure students are receiving a top notch education. We are very proud of our graduates, and many return to visit the faculty and staff. Our current faculty includes 8 graduates from the School of Nursing---what a testament to the program and director!”
“Holly is enthusiastic about the nursing field and all the students entering this program. She is very nurturing and knowledgeable. She enjoys doing the little things also, such as helping to provide daily snacks for our “stressed out” students who need something to sustain them during the day, and decorating the area for different holidays. The school has an annual Halloween Party (which Holly does most of the organizing), bake sales, fundraisers throughout the year, pizza party rewards, opening day and senior banquet activities, etc. It is not only a school but a place that she want the students to feel welcome and comfortable.”
In addition to this, Holly has been the president of the Sandusky/Firelands Alzheimer’s Support Group for many years. She conducts monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group meetings, is an active member in the National League for Nursing, Ohio League for Nursing, National Coalition of Hospital Associated Schools and Colleges of Nursing, and the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Outside of work, Holly enjoys walking, participating in community activities, and watching sports. She resides in Sandusky with her husband, Joe, and son, Joey.
