Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Counseling and Recovery Services to Offer Free Support Group to Families Who Have Loved Ones Suffering from Addiction

In an effort to reduce the stigma that families often have to face when their loved one is dealing with addiction, Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Counseling and Recovery Services is offering a free, educational support group called, Family Matters.

Family Matters was created specifically for friends and family members of those suffering from addiction. Family education and involvement are vital parts of the recovery process.

Sessions will focus on various topics to strengthen the family healing and help them find hope while loving someone with an addiction. Some discussion topics will include:

  • Why is it so hard to quit?
  • Impact on the family roles.
  • How to be encouraging without enabling.
  • How to have healthy boundaries.
  • What to do about relapse.

The group will meet the first and third Friday of every month, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The location of the meetings is: Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services, 335 Buckeye Blvd., Port Clinton. There is no cost to attend. Please call 419-734-2942 with any questions.
