Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Speech Language Pathologist Published

(January 17, 2018 – Sandusky, OH) Firelands Regional Medical Center would like to congratulate Katherine (Katie) Brink, speech language pathologist at Firelands, on the publication of her research article entitled “Open-Cup Drinking Development: A Review of the Literatire.” The article was published in the journal Dysphagia.

The article addresses the lack of published research studies that systematically analyze the factors involved with the progression of open-cup drinking in typically developing infants and toddlers. It does so by collating works from disparate and related fields to provide a brief review of the pertinent literature.

“This achievement is a wonderful reflection of Katie’s commitment to evidence-based feeding methodology,” said Lisa Horchler, MS, CCC-SLP, director of speech-language pathology and pediatric outpatient clinics at Firelands.

Brink brings over six years of experience in speech language pathology, having joined Firelands in 2011.
