Jill Wagner Selected as the January Beacon of Light at Firelands
(January 24, 2018 – Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Jill Wagner, BSN, RN, community health advocate, has been selected as the January Beacon of Light Award winner. Jill has been employed with Firelands for 25 years.
The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Regional Medical Center in the form of exceptional Attitude, Commitment and Enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and coworkers.
Jill’s nomination reflected this dedication. “Jill works in a very small department where cooperation and flexibility are very important. Everyone in Community Outreach wears many hats, and Jill is always there ready to change hats at a moment’s notice. She has a very “can do” attitude whether she is helping at one of their many screenings, being the contact person at a community event, or helping a physician’s office find an answer when things aren’t going right. She is always there with a smile and an attitude that says “we can do it” and she never hesitates to advocate for those in need. Jill is also a survivor and will not back down from any challenges, including her battle with breast cancer.”
“Jill is very committed to Firelands Regional Medical Center,” the nomination continued. “She has worked at Firelands for 25 years in various departments. She is a registered nurse and takes the values instilled in her during her training very seriously with a huge commitment to her profession. Although very committed to Firelands, her profession and her co-workers, it does not begin to compare to her commitment to her faith and her family. It is very commendable that those are the commitments most important to her.”
“Anyone who is around Jill for even a short period of time will soon be exposed to her enthusiasm. She has a kind interest in everyone; moreover, if she already knows you, you are greeted with her generous spirit, her concerned demeanor, and her very, very infectious laugh. It would be hard to find someone that exhibits quite as much enthusiasm for life as Jill.”
Jill not only brings her ACE attitude to work, but to the community. She has been an active volunteer for the Nehemiah Center after school program, and she is also very committed to her church.
Outside of work, Jill enjoys spending time with her family. She resides in Sandusky with her husband, Todd, and has three adult children.
