Tonia Copsey Selected as the February Beacon of Light at Firelands
(February 23, 2018 – Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Tonia Copsey, ANP-C, MSN, CWOCN, nurse director and enterostomal therapist in the Wound Care department, has been selected as the February Beacon of Light Award winner. Tonia has been employed at Firelands for almost 13 years.
The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Regional Medical Center in the form of exceptional Attitude, Commitment and Enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and coworkers.
Tonia’s nomination reflected this dedication. “Tonia is always pleasant and easy to work with. She is very personable, cheerful, caring and understanding. Tonia believes in family first in regards to her employees. Tonia is an employee advocate and is very compassionate with patients and their families. She makes her employees and patients feel important and cared for.”
“Tonia has dedicated her career to bettering herself to be able to help our patients. Although it was a challenge, while working full-time she was able to complete her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. She is an enterostomal nurse, and utilizes these skills as a clinic nurse in Clyde and at Magruder Hospital.”
“Tonia leads a great team in the Wound Care Department which is a reflection of her personality. She has been referred to as very fair and helps without being asked.”
Tonia not only brings her ACE attitude to work, but to the community. Along with her twin sister, Nicole, Tonia owns Sweet Adeline’s, which is named after her grandmother. Tonia is also a unique crafter and shares her talents through gifts to others for many occasions.
Outside of work, Tonia enjoys baking, cooking, yoga, boating, crafting, antiquing, and traveling. She resides in Port Clinton with her husband, Chad.
