Firelands Counseling & Recovery Vocational Rehabilitation Services awarded first overall in best practices
(February 19, 2019 – Sandusky) Mental Health Corporations of America (MHCA) has awarded Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Counseling & Recovery Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services first overall in best practices, nationwide, for 2018. MHCA is a national association of innovative, entrepreneurial behavioral healthcare organizations.
Using evidence-based data from over 13 years of customer satisfaction survey results from behavioral health providers across the U.S., MHCA compares organizations treating similar populations and provides them with statistically valid benchmark data. This national data is used for comparative reporting, trend analysis, and for recognizing organizations which attain the highest satisfaction levels each year in relevant categories/populations. This is the second time Firelands’ has received this award, the first was in 2016.
Firelands Counseling & Recovery Vocational Rehabilitation Services is a job readiness and placement program for consumers who have a mental health and/or an alcohol or drug addiction diagnosis, and are in need of assistance in finding employment. Consumers will be taught work readiness and soft employment skills needed to be successful in today’s job market. Firelands started VR services in 2011 with support from State and local funds. The program was developed in order to tailor services for persons with behavioral health disorders. The program grew in 2014 when Firelands acquired the Giving Tree, who also had an established VR program. VR services continue today through state funding, grant funds, and with support from The Mental Health and Recovery Board of Erie & Ottawa Counties, The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties; and The Huron County Board of Mental Health & Addiction Services.
Firelands partners with local businesses to identify their employments needs with the employment goals of clients served. If you are an area business interest in partnering, or if you or a loved one have a behavioral health disorder and would like more information, inquiries can be directed to the program supervisors Diane Moyer at 419-557-5090 or Sheena Lutz at 419-557-5089.
