Donna Tye Selected as the June Beacon of Light at Firelands

(Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Health is pleased to announce that Donna Tye, cook in the dietary services department at Firelands, was selected as the June Beacon of Light Award winner.

The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Health in the form of exceptional attitude, commitment and enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and co-workers.

Donna’s nomination exemplifies this dedication. “Donna is always personable and she always smiles. She consistently demonstrates a positive attitude each and every day. I often walk through the cafeteria and there has yet to be a day where Donna hasn’t greeted me with a pleasant and welcoming smile. If she is having a bad day, she never shows it,” the nomination read. “Donna is a great employee and is willing to jump in and help wherever she is needed. She is always hustling on the buffet line during the busy lunch hour and gets her work done regardless of how busy things may be. She does so with a pleasant disposition, caring for her co-workers and our patients. Donna can often be seen encouraging and boosting her colleagues. She cares about her Firelands Health family and has made an impact on many members of our organization throughout the years.”

Donna is committed and dedicated to Firelands Health and her community. She is passionate about cooking and participating in community service projects. Donna’s passion for community service has led her to be involved in South Side Pride, and helping at Victory Kitchen during the holidays. Donna resides in Sandusky and has been a valued employee at Firelands for 19 years.
