Heather Thomas Selected as the September Beacon of Light at Firelands

(Sandusky, Ohio) Heather Thomas was selected as the Firelands Health September Beacon of Light Award winner. Heather works in patient accounts in the finance department.

The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Health in the form of exceptional attitude, commitment and enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and co-workers.

Heather’s nomination exemplifies this dedication. “Heather is very knowledgeable when it comes to the many sites that billers and collectors need to access, and also with our Meditech system. She takes care of accounts for the physicians and the hospital so her knowledge is well versed,” the nomination read. “Heather has a happy-go-lucky attitude and always has a smile on her face. She is very patient and takes extra time to help anyone that she can and is especially helpful with training new employees.”

Outside of work, Heather is very active in her two son’s lives and serves on the Sandusky Band Parents Organization and the Sandusky Orchestra Parents Association. Heather teaches Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky. In their spare time, Heather and her family enjoy spending time at Cedar Point. Heather has been an employee at Firelands since 2015.
