Daniel Eskins selected as the October Beacon of Light

(Sandusky, Ohio) Daniel Eskins was selected as the Firelands Health October Beacon of Light. Daniel is a charge nurse in Surgical Services at Firelands.

The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Health in the form of exceptional attitude, commitment and enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and co-workers.

Daniel’s nomination exemplifies this dedication. “Dan doesn’t shy away from a challenge. He is eager to learn and seeks learning opportunities. He is always looking for ways to improve his performance and better himself as a nurse and coworker,” the nomination read. “Dan always has a positive attitude. It is contagious. He is such a pleasure to work with. Dan’s nickname is “Happy Dan” and it suits him well. Dan is able to change the entire atmosphere of a department with just his presence.”

Dan’s career began as an EMT and firefighter. He decided to pursue a nursing degree, starting as a licensed practical nurse and working his way up to a registered nurse. Dan will graduate in December with his Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Dan has been an employee at Firelands since 2011. He resides in Perkins Township with his wife and three children. Outside of work, Dan is actively involved in his children’s extracurricular activities, volunteering and coaching various sports. Dan enjoys camping, fishing, riding jet skis and spending quality time with his family.
