Firelands announces new director of facilities and plant operations

(Sandusky, Ohio) Bill MacKay was hired as the director of facilities and plant operations at Firelands Health. Bill brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience in facilities maintenance to his role and is certified in Hospital Emergency Response Team training for mass casualty incidents.

Over the course of his career, Bill has worked in various roles in the healthcare setting, most recently as the corporate director of plant operations for five hospitals and four substance use disorder clinics. When asked why he was interested in this position, Bill replied, “I came here for the people. Being independent was an important part of where I wanted to work. However, meeting the people during my interview process inspired me to want to be part of this organization.” Bill went on to say, "I look forward to growing and bonding with my facilities’ team as a unit. I respect and look up to the leadership that has previously made Firelands a great place. I look forward to building on the health system’s successes."

Outside of work, Bill enjoys taking walks with his wife and their two dogs, camping, golfing, playing soccer and weightlifting. Bill serves on the board of directors for Blueridge Vista, ClearVista, Sunrise Vista and Ethan Crossing of Cleveland, and is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) International Fire Marshals Association.
