Firelands hires one new leader, promotes six

(Sandusky, Ohio) Heather Welch joined Firelands Health as the senior director of revenue cycle. Welch will be overseeing patient accounting, patient access, health information management, recovery audit contractors and denials management, and financial counseling. She has worked in healthcare over 25 years and has a bachelor’s degree in health information management from the University of Cincinnati as well as an associate degree from BGSU Firelands in health information management. Heather is a Registered Health Information Administrator with American Health Information Management Association and a Certified in Healthcare Compliance. Welch worked for a Lorain health system for 10 years in coding compliance and consulted for 15 years in revenue integrity.

Welch enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, three dogs and camping. "I am excited to interact with the people on my team and the patients of Firelands. I look forward to the challenges that revenue cycle brings today in healthcare. If I can help Firelands navigate this complex system, I have done my job right."

Six leaders, who demonstrated quality and distinction within their roles, were promoted. Here is a list of those who were promoted as well as their new titles.
