Firelands Health nominates employee for Health Care Worker of the Year Award
(Sandusky, Ohio) Representatives at Firelands Health nominated Juliet Russell, LPCC, NCC, for the 2024 Ohio Hospital Association’s (OHA) Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award. Juliet is a program coordinator at Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services in Norwalk, Ohio.
The Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award is presented annually to one Ohio caregiver who personifies a leader, consistently goes beyond the call of duty, exemplifies the mission, vision and values of their organization, and makes a positive impact in their community.
Juliet is an outstanding team member at Firelands and is an active member in her community. Her nomination read, “She has a huge heart, not only for the clients we work with, but also the employees that we work with. She is always going above and beyond to ensure needs are met.” Juliet is certified in providing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, commonly known as EMDR, an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Juliet is engaged both at work and in her personal life. “She is involved in the community, directing plays with the Bellevue Society for the Arts, and serves on the Northwest Ohio Counseling Association (NWOCA),” explained her nominator. As a role model, the theater provides a positive social activity for Juliet, and she often assists youth to develop skills and increase confidence. Additionally, NWOCA works to help advance the profession of counseling through trainings, making resources available to counselors in the region and ensuring support.
Organizational values are encouraged to be a focal point of the Health Care Worker of the Year Award. Firelands’ values are attitude, commitment and enthusiasm (ACE). Juliet’s nomination read, “Juliet always has a positive attitude and takes on challenges as a new opportunity to make a difference. She is regularly seeking additional information to assist our clients with their treatment and shares the new information so that everyone on the team can benefit. She eagerly volunteers to participate in local community recovery events. These events help increase community awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use issues, treatment, and reducing stigma.”
The award will be presented at OHA’s 109th Annual Meeting & Education Summit in June.
