Firelands Medical Education celebrates graduation

(Sandusky, Ohio) The Sandusky Yacht Club served as the backdrop as eight physicians were recognized during the 42nd graduation ceremony for Firelands Regional Medical Center’s medical education program.

On May 30, Dr. Matthew Braniecki, director of the family medicine residency, recognized the following graduates:

  • Adam Jenkins, D.O., who is planning to continue his training in the hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Firelands Health.
  • Melissa Malek, D.O., who will be joining Firelands Physician Group and practicing in Sandusky, Ohio.
  • Joseph Parenteau, D.O., who is planning to continue his training in the hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Firelands Health.
  • Daniel Truitt, D.O., who will be joining NOMS Healthcare and practicing in Sandusky, Ohio.

Dr. Eric Mast, director of medical education, recognized the following graduates of the transitional year residency:

  • Austin Campbell, D.O., who will continue his residency training in radiology at Harlem Hospital Center in New York, New York.
  • Anam Hussain, M.D., who will continue her residency training in radiology at University of Cincinnati Diagnostic Radiology Program in Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • Lindsey Johnson, D.O., who will continue her residency training in dermatology at the KCU-GME Consortium in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Rame Yousif, M.D., who is planning to continue his training by completing a research year.

Firelands Health Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Normington-Slay and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Scott Campbell provided welcoming comments to the graduates and those in attendance.

After receiving their awards and certificates, graduates presented awards to area physicians who were instrumental in providing instruction and guidance during their education. Dr. Allison Petznick was recognized as the family medicine residency preceptor of the year. Dr. Mazhar Rahman was recognized as the transitional year residency preceptor of the year.

The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Outstanding Physician Awards were presented to Dr. Matthew Braniecki (primary care physician); Dr. Larry Robinson (specialty care physician); Dr. Kristopher Lindbloom (primary care specialty physician); and Dr. Daniel Truitt (resident physician).
