Firelands Health recognized for heart care and patient outcomes

(Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center received recognition for its commitment to providing quality care to heart patients from the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Firelands participates in the ACC National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) and ACC's quality programs. These programs provide data to be used as an improvement method so that the providers are closely following guidelines that lead to high-quality care for heart patients.

"This recognition is important to us," said Firelands Senior Director of Quality Sheri Johnson, MHA, BSN, RN. "By following evidence-based guidelines to diagnose and treat patients, we can continue to provide care that saves patients’ lives."

The ACC recognizes over 2,000 hospitals, centers and health systems participating in the NCDR and/or ACC Accreditation Services. These institutions are committed to quality and process improvement in cardiovascular care. This recognition is featured in the annual "Best Hospitals" guidebook by U.S. News & World Report, which aims to help patients and caregivers find the best medical centers for their healthcare needs. The ACC uses this platform to showcase the facilities that have excelled in evidence-based cardiovascular care, improved patient outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
