Admissions

The Regular RN Program admits students once per year.

Opens: July 1

Deadline: March 1

Admission requirements

  • Graduation from high school or satisfactory performance on the General Education Development Test.
  • High school or college completion of one credit in mathematics and two credits in science (algebra, biology and chemistry preferred).

How to apply

  1. Apply online or download a printable application to mail in.
  2. Pay a $25 non-refundable application fee. You have three options to complete payment:
    • Pay online
    • Call the registrar/bursar at (419) 557-7115 to make a payment by phone.
    • Cash, check or money order may be dropped off or mailed to the school.
  3. Submit an official high school transcript or GED results.
  4. Submit all official transcripts from all other colleges and universities attended.
  5. Submit character references
    • Regular RN Program AND Transfer Students: Professional Reference Form provided by the school will need to be submitted from three individuals who know the applicant (teachers, clergy, employers or counselors.) A relative or friend may not give a reference.

All documents can be submitted one of three ways:

  1. Emailed to the Registrar/Bursar at Ashley.Dickman@firelands.com
  2. Mailed to Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing, 1912 Hayes Ave. Sandusky, OH 44870
  3. Drop off documents to the school at address above.

Once your application is complete, the School of Nursing will contact the applicant to schedule:

  • The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) unless the applicant has an earned baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited institution
  • Personal interview with the director and registrar/bursar
