Biography

I went to medical school at the former Medical College of Ohio, now called the University of Toledo Medical Center. I did an internal medicine residency at Akron City Hospital and then a Cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Following my Cardiology fellowship, I received another fellowship in electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic. I was fortunate at the time to be one of just 1,100 physicians trained in electrophysiology, a field that has really grown in importance since 1991.

I became a cardiologist due to having a great mentor in my cardiology rotation. His name was Dr. Bill Bauman at Akron City Hospital. Dr. Bauman made cardiology interesting and exciting. Today, I still find what I do to be so rewarding. The best part of my job is seeing patients who are really sick and helping them to feel a lot better.

I started practicing in Newport Beach, CA, but the cost of living there was extraordinary. I came back to Ohio and joined North Ohio Heart in Lorain and Elyria. Two years later, I was asked by North Ohio Heart to help in the Sandusky location. I truly thought Sandusky would be a temporary place for me, but as my practice grew, I established more and deeper roots here. I had never really lived in a small town prior to living here. I truly enjoy the recreational aspects of Sandusky. I like boating, skiing and being outdoors. I also love the sense of community here. I practice where I live, so my patients get to know me as a person and I get to know them, too. That translates to even better care for everyone.

Firelands offers a sense of community much like Sandusky does. I feel like in a smaller setting, my patients and colleagues get to know me and understand me as a professional. Here at Firelands we have a very cohesive medical staff at all levels and a mutual respect among the caregivers. Firelands has both quality healthcare and the capability to provide many types of care. We have physicians with a lot of expertise and I truly think that is remarkable for a town this size. I also think that having quality physicians in all specialties makes each person’s job a little bit easier and most importantly, it means better outcomes for our patients.
