Classes and education

We understand this is an exciting time, yet also a little stressful. The Bellevue Hospital Family Birthing Center provides education and support for mothers before and after pregnancy.

Pregnancy Partners

As the expected due date draws closer, parents are excited and full of questions. The Bellevue Hospital's Pregnancy Partners program offers a free 90-minute appointment to prepare and educate mothers and fathers for the arrival of their little bundles of joy, while also providing individual time to ask questions and fill out paperwork.

When the mother-to-be is between 36 and 37 weeks pregnant, please call The Bellevue Hospital's Family Birthing Center at 419-483-4040, Ext. 4295 to schedule.

Lamaze Childbirth and Breastfeeding Education Class

The Bellevue Hospital offers expectant parents the opportunity to prepare for the labor and birth of their child through Lamaze childbirth classes.

Relaxation, breathing and comfort techniques will be explored and practiced during class. Information on anatomy, signs of labor, medications, cesarean births and coaches in the labor process will also be discussed. The mother will learn how to take an active role in her care and make informed decisions during her labor. A tour of the family birthing center will give expectant parents a chance to become familiar with the center and ask questions.

The class is offered on a one-on-one basis at The Bellevue Hospital and is formatted into two, three-hour classes that also include breastfeeding education.

The class fee is $35. Please call 419-483-4040, Ext. 4295 to schedule your appointment.

M.O.M.S. Support Group

Having a baby is an exciting and life-changing event that can sometimes leave new moms feeling overwhelmed with questions. This free breastfeeding support group provides a friendly, non-judgmental and supportive environment that encourages and supports a new mother’s choice to breastfeed her child. New moms can come with questions and concerns, or just to meet and share experiences with other new mothers and their babies who are also dealing with the challenges of these early months.

The class is facilitated by a certified lactation consultant, and discussions may include breastfeeding topics, life adjustment challenges, sleeping habits and navigating the trials of motherhood.

All mothers and their breastfeeding children are welcome to attend this monthly support group held at the Burson Conference Room at The Bellevue Hospital. No registration is required.
