How do you make sure you're not surprised by the amount of your bill?
To help ensure a smooth billing process, we encourage you to take these steps before your visit at Firelands Regional Medical Center:
- Confirm your insurance is accepted at Firelands Regional Medical Center or call your insurance company to find out if it has a contract with Firelands Regional Medical Center.
- Check your insurance plan to find out what is and isn't covered and whether or not your service requires authorization.
- Confirm the copay amount for your visit, as well as any unmet deductible amount.
- Be aware of your coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum.
- Update your coordination of benefits with your insurance plan.

You will receive separate bills from your physician, surgeon and other specialists such as a radiologist, anesthesiologist, or lab work. Please contact the appropriate professional if you have questions about their service by calling their number listed on the appropriate bill.
Provider-based billing
Firelands Regional Medical Center uses "provider-based billing" or “hospital outpatient” when charging for services to Medicare- and Medicaid-insured patients.

Precertification
We are pleased to assist physician offices with the precertification process for outpatient imaging services, sleep lab, and echocardiogram when allowable by the patient's insurance company.
