Since 1967, Firelands Regional Medical Center has been serving the behavioral health needs of our community, including individuals in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot counties. Sometimes certain behavioral health problems can become severe. In such instances, you or your loved one may benefit most from inpatient treatment in either our Behavioral Health Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, or our Partial Hospitalization Program.
The Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit, located on the hospital’s main campus, offers comprehensive and integrated mental health and hospital services for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. This service is licensed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP).
Our treatment team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, licensed mental health therapists, discharge planners, recreational therapists and hospital-based medical teams who work together to provide comprehensive treatment for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
The program is designed to help participants reach an improved level of functioning and resume their normal activities at home and in the community. The unit treats adults and geriatric patients and has a special care area for patients needing a more intense level of care.
The Partial Hospitalization Program offers intensive clinical services in an environment where you or your loved one can feel comfortable. Even if you are close to home during your partial hospitalization stay with us, we want you to feel like you are home. The purpose of this program is to provide a treatment alternative that bridges the gap between inpatient psychiatric hospitalization and traditional outpatient therapy.
With partial hospitalization, each individual has a treatment plan unique to his or her own needs. This plan is developed by working closely with the program’s team of professionals. Group and individual activities, education, psychiatric monitoring, and medication management are offered. Firelands uses a multi-disciplinary treatment approach which includes physicians, nurses, therapists and case managers according to individual need. Staff is trained and credentialed according to Ohio laws.
The Partial Hospitalization Program is located in Erie, Huron and Seneca Counties. However, individuals from Sandusky, Wyandot and Ottawa Counties can attend based on the availability of transportation.
