The caring professionals at Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services help people in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot counties who may be dealing with emotional problems that disrupt everyday life.

Mental Health Treatment in Ohio

We provide a complete range of outpatient mental health services for children, adolescents, adults and older adults. We also provide services for the hearing impaired, Spanish-speaking and other populations. All counseling services are provided by licensed professionals.

Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services Plus is located in Erie, Huron, Seneca, and Sandusky Counties. However, individuals from Wyandot, Lorain and Ottawa Counties can attend based on the availability of transportation.

Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Treatment in Ohio

More than 10 million Americans suffer from alcoholism or other forms of drug problems. Unless properly treated, this devastating disease may result in the loss of an individual’s family, job, health, friends, money, self-esteem, even life itself.

The AOD counselors at Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services provide a complete continuum of treatment and prevention services to help individuals and families establish and maintain abstinence from alcohol and other drugs. Services are available for adults, adolescents and their families.

AOD treatment services include the 12-step model of recovery supported by Alcoholics Anonymous. We offer:

Specialized Outpatient Programs

Firelands also offers additional outpatient programs, including:

Firelands Vocational Rehabilitation
This program teaches work readiness and soft employment skills needed to be successful in today’s job market. It is for individuals who have a mental health and/or alcohol or drug addiction diagnosis and are in need of assistance in finding employment. Firelands Vocational Rehabilitation is offered to adults and transitional youth in Erie, Huron, Seneca, Sandusky, Wyandot and Ottawa Counties.

Integrated Family & Systems Treatment (I-FAST)
I-FAST is a treatment program targeted for youth ages 10 to 18 who have mental health and/or drug/alcohol disorders. I-FAST is available with no out-of-pocket expense to residents of Erie, Ottawa, Huron, Lorain, Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties.

Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)
This program is designed to identify and reduce problematic alcohol and other drug use through early intervention and the integration of medical and behavioral health healthcare providers. SBIRT is current serving patients in inpatient settings, primary care practices and indigent healthcare clinics.

Cancer to Health Program
This program utilizes an approach that integrates behavioral health and cancer treatment. In doing so, the program can reduce stigma for cancer patients receiving behavioral health treatment; assist in coping with the emotional toll that diagnosis and treatment can have on patients; improve access to comprehensive services to patients; and improve survival and quality of life for patients as they go through treatment. The Cancer to Health program is available in Erie and Ottawa Counties.

Elder Wellness Program
Firelands offers the Elder Wellness program to provide supportive and effective mental health treatment for individuals over the age of 60. The program helps seniors cope with both the aging process and mental health or other behavioral issues. It is available in Lorain County.

Community, Professional Education & Prevention
Firelands provides educational programs on a wide variety of mental health topics, including presentations and workshops on mental health education for community professionals; community presentations conducted by staff on the topics of depression, coping with grief, eating disorders, and more; Critical Incident Debriefing to help community agencies and organizations cope with traumatic events; and mental health prevention and consultation for school systems.
